Job Summary:
The Information Governance Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of information governance practices within the organization. This role focuses on establishing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the effective management, protection, and availability of organizational information resources. The Information Governance Manager collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices related to information management and data privacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain information governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of organizational information.
2. Establish and enforce standards for information classification, retention, and disposal in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of information governance principles into business processes, systems, and applications.
4. Assess and mitigate risks associated with information assets, including data breaches, unauthorized access, and data loss.
5. Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with information governance policies and identify areas for improvement.
6. Provide guidance and training to staff members on information governance principles, practices, and tools.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting information governance.
8. Collaborate with legal, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations related to information management and data protection.
9. Foster a culture of information governance awareness by promoting the value of information assets and their responsible use.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) working in information governance, records management, or a similar role within a complex organization.
3. In-depth knowledge of information governance principles, standards, and best practices.
4. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
5. Strong understanding of information security concepts, including data classification, access controls, and encryption.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement appropriate controls.
7. Proficiency in using information management systems and tools, such as document management systems, electronic records management systems, and data classification software.
8. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
9. Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and time management abilities.
10. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
